Rapid Prototyping:Accelerate Product Validation, Reduce Development Risk

Table of Contents

Before committing to die casting tooling, Rapid Prototyping provides a highly efficient, low-risk solution for product design validation. By producing a small quantity of functional prototype parts in a short time, it helps customers confirm product structure, assembly relationships, and functional performance prior to mold manufacturing – resolving design risks before tooling begins.

Why Choose Rapid Prototyping?

  • Validate design feasibility quickly – Confirm product structure, assembly, and function before tooling to reduce later modifications
  • Low-cost trial and error – Validate design concepts at a fraction of the cost before committing to full-scale tooling
  • Shorten product development cycles – Run prototyping in parallel with tooling preparation to accelerate time-to-market
  • Physical samples support decision-making – Prototypes enable functional testing, assembly verification, and hands-on customer evaluation
  • Reduce tooling development risk – Avoid costly rework and lead time delays caused by design flaws
  • Our Rapid Prototyping Capabilities:

Prototyping Methods:

CNC Prototyping – Machined from the same production materials (ADC12 / A380, etc.), offering material consistency and mechanical properties close to production castings. Ideal for functional testing and assembly verification. Suitable for small to medium-sized parts with precision up to ±0.05mm.

Metal 3D Printing (Additive Manufacturing) – Ideal for complex geometries, internal cavities, or conformal cooling channels that are difficult to machine with CNC. Fast turnaround with flexible design modifications – no tooling required. Particularly suitable for topology-optimized or highly integrated complex parts.

Low Pressure / Gravity Casting Prototypes – For products requiring validation of casting process fluidity, small-batch samples can be produced using simple metal molds or sand molds to evaluate as-cast microstructure and shrinkage porosity risk.

Quantity & Lead Time:

  • Prototype Quantity – 1 to 100 pieces, tailored for sample testing, assembly verification, customer approval, and small-batch pilot runs
  • Standard Lead Time – 7 to 15 days (depending on part complexity)
  • Expedited Service – Rush delivery available in as few as 5 days

Prototype Validation Scope:

  • Dimensional accuracy inspection (CMM full report available)
  • Assembly fit verification (clearance and interference checks with mating parts)
  • Functional testing (airtightness, electrical conductivity, thermal performance, etc.)
  • Surface quality assessment (providing reference for subsequent surface finishing processes)

Seamless Transition from Prototype to Production

Once the prototype is approved, we can proceed directly to mold manufacturing. Our engineering team evaluates process feasibility during the prototyping phase, offering optimization recommendations from a die casting process perspective to ensure product designs are manufacturable and cost-effective in volume production. From prototype to mass production, we provide end-to-end technical and project management support – eliminating design iterations and resource waste.

Typical Applications:

  • Design validation for new product development
  • Supplier capability assessment by customers
  • Small-batch functional test samples
  • Exhibition display samples or customer trial parts
  • Structural optimization validation prior to tooling development
